The 4 reasons you don’t have an awesome brand (yet)
Building a stand-out brand isn’t particularly hard to do—if you know what you’re doing. The problem is, most completely capable newbies just don’t know what they don’t know! And, they can’t find a clear brand-building roadmap or expertise beyond blogs with “10 quick tips” that don’t even scratch the surface.
The expensive branding agencies and consultants want you to think that you can’t do this without them. I mean, why would they ever let you in on their winning strategies, processes or formulas?
This leaves most would-be brilliant brand builders with a decision—throw big bucks at the problem (& start a cycle of expensive codependency), or continue fumbling through the dark, google searching, borrowing from others, and burning the midnight oil while frankensteining an incredibly powerful element of their business.
Most entrepreneurs and business owners approach their brand as a purely creative project—not a strategic, serious business exercise. They spitball some names to their friends or marketing acquaintances and find a friend-of-a-friend to design a logo on the cheap. Done, aaaand done.
Again, this is the way most people do it. It is not the way that those super successful brands you emulate do it. When you stop at the surface level, you miss the research, strategy, vision and targeting that lays a supercharged foundation for your brand to grow from. Over many hours, weeks, months… maybe even years. To be honest, you’ve gotten pretty good at hacking the brand thing. But the fountain of creativity and enthusiasm you used to bring to your branding is kind of... dried up.
